OBIT-Lee Harrell Cheves

On October 14, 1937, I was born in Iowa Park, Texas to Eula Grace and E.H. Cheves. Later I was joined by my sister, Linda, and brother, David. We enjoyed growing up in Cisco, Texas, traveling to family reunions and taking family vacations throughout Texas. I graduated from Cisco High School in 1956 with many fond memories.

In 1962 while attending New Mexico State University I married Ann Ottesen (later divorced) in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In 1963 I became a proud graduate of NMSU with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, we moved to Vernal, Utah to open a business, Industrial Communications. We were blessed with a beautiful daughter in 1964.

Since 1968 I have been as active as possible in the Vernal Elks Lodge. I have met so many wonderful people while playing bridge, collecting tokens, and traveling to some 80 countries since 2000. But some of the best people I’ve met have been here in Vernal, especially Ken and Marty Kay. Visiting with my family has always brought me great enjoyment. In 2012 I moved to St. Josephs Villa in Salt Lake City.

Preceded in death by my father and mother, E.H. and Grace Cheves and my younger brother David Cheves. Survived by daughter Catherine (Tony) Weller and granddaughter Lila Ann of Salt Lake City; sister Linda Nicklas of Susanville, California; nephew Clif (Jessica) Motheral and their children Aidan and Rory of Susanville, California.

This has been a fantastic journey. It is time to say Good-Bye.

Memorial service and wake at Vernal Elks Lodge Saturday, November 18, 2017, 2:00 p.m.
